Live Zoom and Self-Paced Course Delivery

The Academy’s 12-hour live instructional component is delivered through scheduled, real-time, instructor-led Zoom sessions designed to parallel an in-classroom learning environment. Students must remain clearly visible on camera, actively participate throughout each session, complete attendance checks and learning activities, and have their instructional hours verified.

Zoom attendance reports, instructor attendance records, LMS activity, roll calls, polls, knowledge checks, and participation records may be used to document attendance. Live Zoom sessions or designated portions may also be recorded for attendance verification, quality assurance, accessibility, or resolution of an attendance dispute. Students will receive advance notice of any recording, and the Academy will follow any required consent procedure. Recordings are not provided as a substitute for live attendance.

The remaining 12 hours are completed through the Academy’s guided, self-paced learning management system. Self-paced coursework includes assigned lessons, required activities, knowledge checks, completion tracking, and the required state-supported mandated-reporter course.

Local acceptance notice:

Because individual courts, agencies, employers, and provider referral lists may have their own administrative practices, students should confirm that live instructor-led Zoom training is accepted for the jurisdiction or organization where they intend to provide services, seek employment, or request placement on a provider list.

Attendance and Camera Requirements

The Live Zoom format is conducted as scheduled, real-time, instructor-led instruction. The registered participant must personally attend and remain visibly present.

  • Camera on and face clearly visible for the full instructional period
  • Exceptions only for scheduled breaks, an approved accommodation, or a brief instructor-authorized technical interruption
  • Entry, return-from-break, and closing roll calls
  • Zoom attendance reports and LMS activity records
  • Timed check-ins, polls, knowledge checks, and instructor-directed participation
  • Missed or unverifiable time must be completed through an approved make-up or transfer before certification

Live Zoom sessions or designated portions may be recorded for attendance verification, quality assurance, accessibility, or resolution of an attendance dispute. Participants receive advance notice, and the Academy follows any required consent procedure. Access is restricted, recordings are not distributed as course replays, and recordings do not replace continuous camera-visible attendance or active participation.
