Program Overview

The Bridging Families Academy program combines instructor-led discussion, guided scenarios, independent study, and applied learning activities. The curriculum is organized around the training subjects identified in California Judicial Council Standard 5.20 and the professional obligations connected to Family Code section 3200.5.

How Learning Is Delivered

Live Classroom

Instructor-led learning supports explanation, professional discussion, case-based scenarios, questions, and skill-building exercises. Attendance and active participation are required.

Self-Paced Coursework

Assigned readings, recorded educational content, knowledge checks, and written activities reinforce legal standards and professional practice concepts.

Applied Practice

Participants work through intake, court-order review, observation, documentation, safety, communication, and termination scenarios.

The program is appropriate for prospective and current professional providers, supervised visitation program personnel, family court professionals, social workers, mental health professionals, child welfare professionals, family law attorneys, and students entering the field.

Attendance and Completion Expectations

Participants are expected to:

  • Attend the full scheduled live classroom instruction.
  • Log in and participate personally; registration may not be shared.
  • Complete all self-paced assignments by the stated deadline.
  • Participate professionally in discussions and scenarios.
  • Complete required knowledge checks or assessments.
  • Follow course confidentiality, copyright, and conduct expectations.

  • A computer or tablet capable of video conferencing and course access.
  • A working camera, microphone, and speakers or headset.
  • A private learning environment suitable for participation.
  • Current browser software and access to email.
Recording restriction:

Participants may not record, photograph, copy, stream, distribute, or share live instruction or protected course materials without written authorization from Bridging Families Academy.

Certificate Information

A Bridging Families Academy certificate is issued after the participant completes all required live and self-paced hours, required activities, and applicable assessments. The certificate documents education completed through the Academy; it is not a California license, court appointment, employment guarantee, or state-issued certification.
