California’s professional-provider framework establishes qualifications and professional duties. The planned Business & Practice Management course will focus on a different question: how a qualified or aspiring provider can organize the administrative, documentation, financial, insurance, and workflow systems needed to operate a supervised visitation practice.
This planned course is optional supplemental education. It is not part of the Academy’s 24-hour professional-provider training and will not replace the training, Live Scan, TrustLine, declaration, insurance, court, agency, business-registration, tax, or local requirements that may apply to an individual provider or business.
Course Development
The final curriculum has not yet been published. Current planning includes the following practical areas.
Choosing an operating structure, organizing administrative registrations, obtaining an EIN when appropriate, business banking, bookkeeping, and building a launch checklist.
Understanding common insurance categories, certificates of insurance, transportation considerations, risk transfer, and questions to discuss with a qualified insurance professional.
Inquiry screening, conflict checks, court-order collection and review, separate intake workflow, case acceptance decisions, safety preparation, and service setup.
Service agreements, intake forms, contact logs, visit records, objective notes, incident documentation, report workflow, records organization, confidentiality, and retention planning.
Developing fees, minimums, travel policies, cancellations, scheduling, invoicing, payment procedures, case profitability, workload limits, and administrative time.
Professional websites, attorney and community outreach, ethical marketing, local court and provider-list research, referral relationships, and building a credible professional presence.
The Academy is evaluating a companion toolkit so participants can leave with practical systems rather than theory alone.
Topics, format, materials, tuition, dates, and included templates may change before enrollment opens. Joining the interest list simply allows the Academy to notify you when details are finalized.
